Privacy notice: early preview
Pipit is an Australian service, designed and built in Australia for Australian households. This notice explains what we collect, why, where it goes, and what you can do about it. If anything is unclear, email feedback@usepipit.com.
What we collect
- Your email address, so you can sign in. We don't ask for your name, address, phone number or card details.
- The receipts you choose to add: photos, files and emails you forward to your Pipit address.
- The details Pipit reads from them: shop, date, items, prices and totals.
- Any changes, tags and notes you add.
- Emails you send us, such as feedback.
- Basic technical records needed to run the service, such as when you signed in.
Receipts can contain personal details, such as a loyalty card number, the last digits of a bank card, which shops you visit, or items like medicines. You don't have to add any receipt you'd rather keep private, and you're welcome to cover anything on it before you take a photo. If you prefer, you can sign up with an email address made just for Pipit.
Why we collect it
Only to run Pipit for you: to read your receipts, show you your purchases, and improve how well Pipit reads receipts. We don't sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with shops or brands.
Your household
If you invite someone into your household, or join one, the members of that household can see the receipts the household has added. Nobody else can.
Who helps us run Pipit
| Service | What it does | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Stores your account, receipts and images | Sydney, Australia |
| Anthropic | Reads each receipt image, file or email to pick out the items and prices | USA |
| Resend | Sends sign-in emails and receives receipts you forward | USA |
| Vercel | Runs the website | Servers in Sydney; company in the USA |
This means receipts and some details are sent overseas, mainly to the USA. We use these services under their business terms, which limit how they can use your information. Anthropic's business terms say it does not use our customers' data to train its AI. Each service keeps information only as long as its own terms allow. By using Pipit you agree to this.
Keeping it safe
Your information is stored with access controls so each household can only see its own data. Sign-in uses a one-time email link, so there's no password to steal. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that could cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
How long we keep it
While your account is open. Because this is an early preview, we may delete preview data when the preview ends, and we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email first so you can save or export anything you want.
Your choices
- You can see, correct or delete any receipt yourself in Pipit.
- You can export your receipts as a spreadsheet file.
- You can delete your whole account yourself, at any time, on the Account page. If you're the only person in your household, all its receipts and photos are deleted straight away. If you share a household, the receipts stay with the others.
- For anything else we hold about you, or to have it corrected, email feedback@usepipit.com.
Cookies
Pipit uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. No advertising or tracking cookies. If we count website visits, we use a counter that sets no cookies and records no personal details.
Questions and complaints
Email feedback@usepipit.com. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Who we are

Changes
If we change this notice, we'll tell you by email and ask you to accept the new version before you keep using Pipit.
